VanVelzen has a son! VanVelzen on Twitter: 'Very happy and proud we present you: Laut van Velzen. 4 weeks early, but healthy and very welcome. Bye bye, Dad'

VanVelzen and his wife became the happy parents of a son: Laut! VanVelzen Junior was a little earlier then expected, but he is fine, just like his mum.

The singer got a call from his wife Marloes she was going into childbirth while VanVelzen and band were on a boat to England to record the final tracks for his new album. Luckily he caught the first flight back home and got to his wife only half an hour before the baby was born. Quite 'The Rush of Life' so to speak...
VanVelzen gets a wax figure! VanVelzen gets his own wax figure in Madame Tussauds Amsterdam! It is not only a big honour for the singer, but it is also very special knowing that the museum creates only two new figures a year.

VanVelzen went to London to meet the artists while they were working on his wax twin. He called the resemblance 'astonishing'. The wax VanVelzen will be revealed on february 29 and will be on public display in Amsterdam from that moment on.

On Twitter VanVelzen wrote: 'How bizarre. A wax figure. Of me. In Madame Tussaud... I used to go there to look at my heroes!' The old picture proofs the point.
New single: The Rush of Life VanVelzen has a brand new single, The Rush of Life. And it offers a brand new sound too! The steady rocksong is accompanied by a solid bassdrum that fits the title perfectly.

'The Rush of Life' is the new single of 'The Rush of Life' album that is due in April 2012. In October VanVelzen and band will start a theatre tour of the same name.

Yes, 2012 is going to be an absolute rush: '...and I just can't get enough of it'. How about you? Download the new single on iTunes and feel the rush!
New album in the making VanVelzen on Twitter: 'In the studio with the band, 3 days of pre production. The last 3 demos are taking colour and shape. After this we can really start recording.'

VanVelzen and band are working hard on a new album! After weeks of writing in Holland, the US and Sweden all ideas finally took shape. Last week they went into the studio to produce definitive demos of the songs. These demos are being used to finalise the songs and ultimately make recording more easy to all involved. Now all demos are finished. Next stop: the recording studio!

So the album is not quite finished, but we'll keep you posted when it is almost done. One thing is clear, according to Jimmy (drums) it is going to be great: 'Now, 3 days of Shamrock Studios have past and they were very cool... We made some great music... The album is going to be really good!'
VanVelzen and Brian May! VanVelzenMusic on Twitter: 'I can die peacefully; played Tie Your Mother Down WITH Brian May #whooooooo'.

VanVelzen and Queen guitarist Brian May played together onstage april 23th. May was in Holland to collect the Eddy Christiani Award, for his inspiring contribution to the development of the electric guitar. Players like Jan Akkerman and Steve Lukather went before him. VanVelzen and band were invited to perform during the ceremony. They accepted with honour, Brian May being a mayor musical hero of theirs.

VanVelzen kicked off with Queen's 'Save Me' and halfway through 'Don't Stop Me Now' May took the stage for his solo. After that VanVelzen and May played a stunning version of 'Tie Your Mother Down' together. Finally VanVelzen honoured his hero with his own rendition of 'Somebody to Love'.

VanVelzen, the band and the crowd went crazy. And Brian May? He wrote on his blog the day after: 'Special thanks to Roel and the Van Veltzen guys...for letting me disrupt their set. Their music definitely needs to be heard more in the UK.' Let's hope the collaboration doesn't end here... (Picture: Karel Storre)
New York state of mind... VanVelzen is in the United States. In New York City VanVelzen is currently working on songs together with some other songwriters.

At this time there is little more to tell you, but we will fill you in on things as soon as we can off course...

So stay tuned!
