VanVelzen
VanVelzen? VanVelzen!
VanVelzen (1978) is Hollands latest sensation. With a Platinum début album, a second double album, six hit singles, four awards, two full-scale tours, a DVD and success in Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, the Dutch singer/pianist claimed his place as a top act.
VanVelzens strong voice and stage presence are larger then life. His energetic straight from- and straight to the heart performance is a unique feature of his personality which grabs everyone he comes across on (and off) stage.
#1 Album
His first album ‘Unwind’ hits the number one position on release in March 2007. A year later it went Platinum. The preceding two hit singles, ‘Baby Get Higher’ and ‘Burn’ both went straight into the Top10. The singles ‘Deep’ and ‘Shine a little Light’ became instant radio hits. VanVelzens fifth single, ‘When Summer Ends’ went up the charts like a rocket. It is the title song to the successful movie ‘Zomerhitte’ (or 'Summerheat').
Award winning star
After his début in September 2006 VanVelzen already won four music awards. The 3FM Awards for ‘Best New Act’ and ‘Most Played Single’ (Baby Get Higher). And ‘Unwind’ was voted Best Album by Dutch viewers of music television channel TMF. On the sold out ‘Unwind Club Tour’ VanVelzen proved himself a heavyweight liveact thanks to his enthusiastic performance and stunning presentation. He therefore got rewarded with the 3FM Award for Best Liveact 2008!
Take him in...
Between gigs such as supporting Kelly Clarkson, super stars Bon Jovi and a helicopter tour on Liberation Day, VanVelzen started writing new songs for his second (double) album 'Take Me In & Hear Me Out'. The up tempo album 'Take Me In' came out in May 2009. Both its singles 'On My Way' (#11) and 'LoveSong' (#9) got very much attention and airplay. Even the videos became big You Tube hits.
Again with a full festivalsummer behind him, VanVelzen released 'Other Side of Me', a down to earth single with just a voice, piano and cello. September saw the release of the second albumdisc 'Hear Me Out', a more intimate sounding record. Together with this album the DVD ‘Paradiso Live’ got released. And with a tight band behind him, VanVelzen sold out clubs all over Holland during the ‘Take Me In Tour’.
International success
In 2008 Germany spontaneously picked up on ‘Baby Get Higher’, which got a lot of airplay on radio and television. In result VanVelzen got to tour with the rockband Reamonn. ‘Burn’ followed as a single and the album ‘Unwind’ came shortly after.
A festival in Luxembourg and a few radio and television performances in Belgium established VanVelzen both as a liveact and a record selling artist in both countries. And his latest single takes VanVelzen all over the globe. Armin van Buuren, the nr1 DJ in the world, proposed a collaboration. The song 'Broken Tonight', taken from the 'Hear Me Out' album, was remixed by Armin van Buuren into a heavy trance song. They joined forces on stage from Ibiza to Dubai.
Hear him out...
2010 will see VanVelzen touring and recording again. Make sure you catch VanVelzen on record or on stage. Because once you have heard and seen VanVelzen perform not only the Dutch shout out: “VanVelzen!”, but you will as well!
